Keeping it local

At Selkies, we believe in keeping it local. We’re passionate about using fresh local produce and have regular meetings and tastings with our suppliers to ensure top quality ingredients and buys from local fishermen, farmers, growers and producers. Here are some of our favourite local suppliers.

Healeys

We recently had a great trip to Healeys Cider Farm where we tasted the whole range of ciders, spirits and jams available. Healeys orchard has over 3000 trees including seven varieties of traditional Cornish native apples. They leave it to the wind to pluck the apples from their branches so that the fruit in their cyders are naturally ripe. Each year, about 2,000 tonnes of apples are sorted, milled and pressed on their farm.

Sharps

Sharps brewery are based in Rock, and are the largest brewer of cask beer in the South West. The Atlantic Ocean, is dynamic and constantly moving, possessing an energy which has shaped and inspired the way they brew. You’ll find their Atlantic pale ale, Offshore pilsner and Cold River cider on tap at Selkies.

The Butchers bakehouse

The Butchers bakehouse are based just down the road in St Columb Major. They supply us with delicious breads and treats, including their all butter croissants. We love supporting this local business who also use local ingredients such as Cornish Sea Salt.
